Almeria trekking - Sierra nevada, Cerro de la Cumbre
The Almerian Sierra Nevada. Fiñana - Cerro de la cumbre - Cerro
del Almirez. Almería trekking routes
Time: Nine hours. We advise to spread it
over two days.
We shall leave Fiñana town towards Granada, taking
in the splendid view of the mountain range.
The road shortly comes to a crossroads which we shall take
to the left. A bit farther, we must take a track to the right.
This track is well preserved and goes into the mountain range,
leading to the Ubeire shelter.
From Fiñana, through a trail which part from there,
we shall reach the Vereda del Collado Aldeire, situated amongst
gullies and rivers, with a forest planted with pines and evergreen
oaks. This shelter, at height of 2,300 m., offers a good perspective
of peaks to be climbed.
From the farmhouse we shall walk on the east in order to get
to the floor of the Capitana. In case we choose walking on
down by the first track to the right, we shall arrive at the
same place.
From there, we shall walk along a fire break on the Loma (hillock)
de la Cruz, a spur which leads to the Cerro de la Cumbre,
more than 2,488 m. high, from which we can gaze at the double
summit of the Cerro del Almirez.
In order to reach the latter, we must on walk along the edge
and arrive at the top, 2,517 m. high.
