Rota information
Municipal Palace "Castillo de Luna"
The entrance to the building was initially six metres
further into the streer, as wall had been erected
from turret to turret to afford the castle more dependence.
Until quite recently the main wall didn't resemble
a castle at all. However, a meticulous restoration
has achieved a close approximation to its initial
state.
Numerous heroic deeds and important events have been
represented on glazed tiles and murals. Undoubtedly
the historic importance of the castle is reflected
in the 247 tiles that form the mural depicting the
visit of the Catholic Kings in 1477.
The tower has been completely restored and now serves
as an archive containing graphical documents of Rota's
history.
