Rota guide
This town's origins go back to the Phoenicians, and there also indications of Roman and Arab settlements.

In the 17th and 18th centuries, Rota fell victim to sacking by English and Dutch armies, which meant that a lot of the towns monuments were destroyed. Among those which remain are the Castillo de Luna (18th century), the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Expectación (16th century) and the Baroque churches of la Caridad and San Roque.
