Fuengirola Festivities

Fuengirola hosts a wide variety of fairs and festivities, amongst the different celebrations that take place in Fuengirola throughout the year, we must highlight the following:

The International Trade Fair

This fair is celebrated in Spring and during the days that the folklore and traditional music lasts, it’s all accompanied by a unique gastronomic experience with art, costumes and traditions of over 30 countries all over the world.

This fair takes place in Fuengirola’s fairground and hosts an enormous influx of visitors every year.

Virgen del Carmen

During the month of July they celebrate their very own traditional festivity, typical of a maritime village like Fuengirola. It’s the festivity of the Virgin of Carmen, the municipality’s patroness, which takes place in the Los Boliches district where the locals parade a religious female figure upon their shoulders voluntarily and carry her into the sea.

During the celebration of this event, there are fireworks and a large crowd gather at the beach at night.

Similar to many other Andalusian fairs, this one is held in the local fairground during the second week of October where we’ll find loads of fair huts where people can eat, drink and dance, with traditional music that in some of them it’s live. The fair also hosts a wide variety of fun rides, which is why it’s an ideal place to visit with the whole family if you find yourself in the area around this time of the year.

During this fair, the horse figure is considered specially important, almost sacred, and the horse-related activities are very popular all around the municipality.

Other special festivities that take place in Fuengirola are the carnival and the night of San Juan. The Sohail castle hosts special events like concerts, exhibitions like well-known Fuengirola City Festival where even important artists of the national music industry attend.

Fuengirola offers fairs and celebrations for all tastes, the fun is definitely guaranteed.
