Malaga Folks Arts Museum

This museum is located in the heart of Malaga, in the former Victoria Tavern, a building that dates back to the 17th century. It was inaugurated in 1976. The initial objective was to ensure the conservation and recovery of the ethnographic heritage, with the aim of showing the day-to-day life of Malaga and the province at its most characteristic levels, its customs and activities, as well as to recover objects that had been dispersed and were in danger of being lost forever.

The building has a square floor plan, elongated to form an irregular trapezium at the stable end. Its architectural structure is typical of that which prevailed in lower Andalusia, typically two-floor buildings with an internal patio off which the different rooms open, very characteristic of Malaga architecture, with its mixture of Moorish tradition on one hand, and Italianised style on the other.
