Time: Three hours.
The route serves as an excuse to visit some old country estates, typical of the mountains.
We shall leave Las Piletas, the first country estate, situated at a junction from the national road Almería - Guadix, going up to a really beautiful valley.
The track leads to Gilma country estate, and farther to Las Rojas.
The country estates are situated along La Rambla de Gilma valley where there are old remains and hidden country houses behind each hillock.
There is an old lane which links up with the Calar Alto, or just with the help of a compass, walking on the north, we shall arrive at a track which to its right leads to the Astronomic Observatory.
