If you visit Olula de Castro you can perform some of the hiking trails starting from the village, a village situated in an area with prehistoric settlements and a rich cuisine. The village Olula de Castro does not have monuments that can be visited, but it’s always nice strolling through its streets, typical steep and narrow streets that have endured over time until today and are a sample of previous cultures that have influenced its layout.
In the area known as Rambla de Verdelecho you can start one of the most popular hiking trails in the area by which you can walk through the Tabernas Desert or get to the amusement park formerly known as Mini-Hollywood and called today Oasys. The route mentioned above has a duration of about 5 hours walking.
The Tabernas Desert is a desert located in Almeria, a filming location for numerous films and Natural Area; it is considered the only desert of Europe. The average temperature in the area covered by the Tabernas Desert is 18ºC, although in summer it can reach almost 50 degrees in the shade, so we recommend avoiding it during the hottest months.
To get to Olula de Castro or Tabernas Desert we recommend taking direction to Granada and then head towards Guadix from where you continue on the A-92 without leaving it until the Tabernas Desert, just before you take the detour to Olula de Castro.
