This town of Phoenician origin has been important during the Roman and Visigoth epoch and provides many monuments and a Moorish-style layout that can be discovered while strolling through the streets.
In Plaza del Castillo you´ll find several religious buildings of the Christian era; during your walk you can stop at one of its many restaurants to sample the rich cuisine of Cadiz with dishes like tuna with onions.
Besides the old town Conil has 14 kilometres of white sandy beaches, several natural areas and routes such as the Tuna Route and the Route of the Castles and Fortresses where you will discover the former need for defence of Cadiz, which was subjected to all kinds of invasions during the past due to its location between two continents.
