Airport name: Malaga-Costa del Sol Airport
Malaga airport is easily accessible by car. Whether you come from the eastern part of the Costa del Sol (Malaga centre, Nerja, Torrox, etc.) or from the western part (Torremolinos, Fuengirola, Mijas, Marbella, Estepona, etc.), the fastest way to access the airport is through the A7 motorway. For both directions, the exit to take is number 3 (MA-23 airport).
For those traveling by public transport, the airport also has a suburban train station, bus stop and taxis.
The province of Malaga, with a total area of 7,308 km2, occupies the 35th position among all the Spanish provinces. However, its more than 1,653,000 inhabitants make it the 6th most populous province in the country. And it is not surprising; Malaga is a unique destination that combines excellent weather, modern cities, white villages, very accessible beaches, natural landscapes, the best of the Mediterranean diet and an endless number of activities throughout the year.
Malaga borders four of the seven remaining Andalusian provinces, has an international airport, a cruise terminal and a cargo port; for that reason it enjoys excellent connections, being the nexus of Andalusia. On the east it borders Granada, known for its famous Alhambra, the Albaycin and Sierra Nevada. To the north it borders Córdoba, famous for its mosque, its courtyards, and its Salmorejo, and Seville, home of the Giralda, the April fair and the Guadalquivir river (although it really originates in Jaen!). In the west we have Cadiz, where we find white beaches and sand dunes, white villages, and its famous Carnival! And last no least, to the south we have the Mediterranean Sea, which gives us a mild climate and stunning views.
It is known as the Costa del Sol the entire coast of Malaga, about 185 km of coastline limited in the west by Gibraltar and in the east by La Herradura (Granada). In this area is concentrated 35% of tourism in Andalusia. Some of its most prominent municipalities are:
The capital of the Costa del Sol is in very good shape. In recent years, many reforms have been carried out throughout the city and the result could not be better. Places such as Calle Larios, Palmeral de Las Sorpresas / Muelle Uno, Plaza de la Merced and the surroundings of the Cathedral of Málaga have become meeting points where you can take a walk, have some tapas or go out to party. And for those who prefer cultural activities, the city offers hundreds of exhibitions and works in its various museums and theatres throughout the year.
Usually associated with luxury tourism and celebrities, Marbella is a highly recommended destination for the range of activities it offers. You can walk through its historic centre, spend the day at any of its beaches, go hiking, or take a walk in Puerto Banus, where you can take pictures with supercars and luxury yachts.
The municipality of Mijas is bigger than it seems, it extends from Fuengirola to Marbella, formed by urban centres such as Mijas Costa, La Cala de Mijas, Calahonda and others. But its best known location is undoubtedly Mijas Pueblo, one of the most picturesque white villages in Andalusia. There you can visit a chocolate factory, a miniature museum, see the typical donkey-taxis and enjoy some beautiful views of the coast.
This small town is one of the main tourist destinations of the Costa del Sol. Its coastline, formed by impressive cliffs, is one of its highlights, in addition to the Caves of Nerja, the Balcony of Europe and its beautiful coves.
There are so many places to visit in Malaga that it is difficult to choose. In addition to the coastal destinations, there are other interesting places in the Inland, such as Ronda, Antequera and the Axarquia region. Therefore, we recommend making a list of the essential places to visit and booking a car hire at Malaga airport, to save time and money on travel.
Normally Group A is the most rented throughout the year. In this group are offered compact models with 3 doors, such as Fiat 500, Toyota Aygo or similar. They are the cheapest in our fleet, perfect for weekend getaways and vacations where you prefer to spend as little as possible on transport.
It depends on the date of your trip. Most of our clients book about 4-5 weeks before their arrival. But it is always better to be cautious, if your reservation coincides with very requested dates (Easter, summer, long weekend, Christmas...), we recommend booking at least 2 months in advance.
No problem, at MalagaCar.com we offer free cancellations. Simply contact us and we will cancel your reservation at no cost. You can make as many changes as you wish.
Do not worry, one of our employees will be waiting for you at the Arrivals Terminal. He shows you how to get from there to our minibus, which brings you right to the doorstep of our office.
You just have to get to our office located at Avenida García Morato 34, 29004, Málaga (the same as upon arrival). Once the car is received, we will take you back to Malaga airport in our courtesy minibus.
Both in Malaga city and other points of the Costa del Sol there are several speed radars. Therefore, we recommend respecting the speed marked by the signs at all times. Parking is another type of fine. Avoid leaving your rental vehicle in permanently reserved spaces, loading and unloading areas and parking equipped for the disabled. If you leave your car in a blue area, remember to pay the necessary time at the nearest parking meter and leave the receipt in a visible place on the dashboard.
