The province of Malaga, with a total area of 7,308 km2, occupies the 35th position among all the Spanish provinces. However, its more than 1,653,000 inhabitants make it the 6th most populous province in the country. And it is not surprising; Malaga is a unique destination that combines excellent weather, modern cities, white villages, very accessible beaches, natural landscapes, the best of the Mediterranean diet and an endless number of activities throughout the year.
Malaga borders four of the seven remaining Andalusian provinces, has an international airport, a cruise terminal and a cargo port; for that reason it enjoys excellent connections, being the nexus of Andalusia. On the east it borders Granada, known for its famous Alhambra, the Albaycin and Sierra Nevada. To the north it borders Córdoba, famous for its mosque, its courtyards, and its Salmorejo, and Seville, home of the Giralda, the April fair and the Guadalquivir river (although it really originates in Jaen!). And for those who prefer cultural activities, the city offers hundreds of xhibitions and works in its various museums and theatres throughout the year.
Usually associated with luxury tourism and celebrities, Marbella is a highly recommended destination for the range of activities it offers. You can walk through its historic centre, spend the day at any of its beaches, go hiking, or take a walk in Puerto Banus, where you can take pictures with supercars and luxury yachts.
The municipality of Mijas is bigger than it seems, it extends from Fuengirola to Marbella, formed by urban centres such as Mijas Costa, La Cala de Mijas, Calahonda and others. But its best known location is undoubtedly Mijas Pueblo, one of the most picturesque white villages in Andalusia. There you can visit a chocolate factory, a miniature museum, see the typical donkey-taxis and enjoy some beautiful views of the coast.
This small town is one of the main tourist destinations of the Costa del Sol. Its coastline, formed by impressive cliffs, is one of its highlights, in addition to the Caves of Nerja, the Balcony of Europe and its beautiful coves.
