The Maria Zambrano train station is located in the centre of Malaga; a car will provide you with the necessary mobility to comfortably reach the main resorts on the Costa del Sol or in Andalusia.

Situated in the centre of the capital and not yet as popular as Malaga airport, the train is the chosen way of transport by many national and international tourists that visit the Costa del Sol.
There is a train for long and medium distances that connects the train station in Malaga with other destinations like the Santa Justa and Dos Hermanas station in Seville, Avila, Burgos or Bilbao-Abando, amongst others.
The old train station in Malaga was built in 1862 and was completely reformed and expanded between 2005 and 2007, passing on to be known as Maria Zambrano station (formerly known as ‘Terminal de Malaga’). It has 63.000 squared metres and is one of the biggest stations in Spain, with underground parking, VIP room and many other services to facilitate the traveller’s stay.
Malaga’s historical old quarter is situated only within walking distance, only a few minutes away; the bus station with local, regional and national lines is situated right opposite the train station. The port of Malaga is only 2 kms. away and only 9 kms. away we’ll find Malaga airport, which is connected by a suburban train that leaves every 20 minutes.
The Maria Zambrano shopping centre has 102 stores and restaurants, a 4-star hotel, 13 movie theatres and a 3.000 squared metre bowling alley.
Many of the visitors that visit Malaga arrive on the AVE, the high-speed train that can reach a speed of up to 350 km/h., a fast and comfortable way of transport that’s more and more extended around the country.
Currently, the two types of existing AVE models arrive at Malaga, the AVE S-102 and S-103. The most veteran of the two models has 329 seats divided into different classes: tourist, first class and club, while the new model has rotating chairs, a more aerodynamic design and advanced safety systems.
The AVE high-speed train connects the capital with the following destinations: Córdoba, Puerto Llano, Ciudad Real, Madrid Atocha, Zaragoza-Delicias, Lleida, Tarragona and Barcelona Sants.
The suburban train line only reaches up to Fuengirola, so if your destination is located in the eastern part of the Costa del Sol, or beyond Fuengirola to the west, you may want to consider other options. Bare in mind the luggage you will be carrying when it comes to making a decision.
Bus
Several buses stop in front of the train station towards Torremolinos and Benalmadena. Bur depending on the destination you may have to go to the bus station first.

The train station offers lockers with the following prices: Small - 3.10 euros, Medium - 3.60 euros, Large - 5.20 euros, Special - 10.20 euros. (Prices may have changed)
