The brand Costa del Sol is giving name to Malaga Airport. The Official State Bulletin (BOE) published yesterday the change of the official name ‘Malaga Airport’, into ‘Malaga airport Costa del Sol‘ from now on.
The idea started over a year ago from the Association of Hoteliers of the Costa del Sol (Aehcos), who saw in this name change a great alternative to enhance the promotion of this tourism brand. This new designation allows linking the destination brand Costa del Sol, internationally recognized, with a first class infrastructure such as Malaga airport, also highly appreciated abroad.
Also will be asked to change the AGP code, as the international airport of Malaga is known, into SOL (SUN). In this regard, the labels of airports are decided by the international organization for air transport, International Air Transport Association (IATA). This is a three letter code designating each airport in the world. In the case of SOL the proposal is feasible as it is not being registered for any other terminal.
Malaga is a very modern airport; in fact, last year opened the T3, which has seen a leap in quality to the facilities and the attention of tourists visiting the popular resorts along the Costa del Sol.
