Few places on the Costa del Sol throw a proper party like Mijas. From the whitewashed hill village of Mijas Pueblo to the lively coastal strip of La Cala de Mijas, the municipality hosts three major fairs every year – each with its own character but all packed with rides, lights, music and pure Andalusian spirit.
The big three are the September fair in Mijas Pueblo, the summer fair in Las Lagunas and the coastal fair in La Cala de Mijas. All feature fairground rides, festival tents (casetas), live performances and that unmistakable feria atmosphere.
The biggest and most traditional of the lot. For five days and nights the hill village comes alive with the grand lighting ceremony, live concerts, flamenco and sevillanas in the festival tents, plus dozens of fairground rides.
By day the action moves to the Jardines de la Muralla – from 5 p.m. there are more performances and a full children’s programme.

From late June to early July the Las Lagunas district turns into one giant family fairground. At night the site sparkles with thousands of lights; by day the feria de dia kicks off at 1 p.m. at Cortijo Don Elias – ideal for enjoying the sun with the kids.

Late July to early August the coast belongs entirely to the summer fair. It opens at 10:30 p.m. with fireworks, then the party really gets going. In recent years free paella has often been served on the first afternoon of the daytime fair.
Every evening the main Caseta Municipal hosts live bands and DJs.
