Mijas has a great amount of varied festivities, most of them are national:
The Three kings parade: on the 5th of January all over Spain.
Carnival: towards the end of February or beginning of March.
Semana Santa (Holy Week): in March or April.
Halloween: 31st of October.
The day of the deceased: 1st of November.
San Juan: The night of the 24th of June with bonfires on the beach and fireworks.

The Mijas fair takes place in September, it has a marked religious character and there are processions with giant big-headed dolls that march along the streets with music bands and the beauty queens of the fairs of Mijas, Las lagunas and la Cala, together with the maids of honour.
On the 8th of September after a floral offering, there is a procession of a religious image from a temple to its sanctuary, accompanied by religious associations and brotherhoods. At the end of the march they launch fireworks to celebrate.
