I have booked with malagacar.com many occasions and have never had any issues. The fuel policy is very fair compared to other rental companies and the process is slick and efficient. I have booked with car hire companies within the terminal thinking it would be easier but it's not there are long delays and very stressful I would much rather get the mini bus for a couple of minutes to malagacar.com as the process is much more efficient and helpful. Dropping off the car is a dream so quick and hassle free. Really recommend this company you will always go back to them

I have used Malagacar since they took over their site from Crown Car hire over 15 years ago. They have consistently offered the best service and value for money whilst others have only tried to increase their costs through various methods like fuel prices etc. This is a professional and friendly service. I booked well in advance to find that the latest cost of the hire was now being advertised for less on their site. Without any fuss I received the lower quote. I have absolutely no Idea how this car rental service got such high marks! Our tire blew, spent nearly 2 hours on hold, after which I told the operator that they should probably send us help because we don't speak much Spanish and any actions that we undertake would void our additional insurance. Suffice to say I got an earful from the operator, who told me that their phone service always has a long waiting time and that I shouldn't be complaining. Waited for a long time for their help, thankfully a Spanish man stopped and had the necessary tools to change on to the spare tire, and told us that there is a local shop that will do it for relatively cheap, albeit at our own expense. Car was otherwise good, and for a low price, but after the customer service, I will definitely never use this company again. Think Twice.

I've phoned the UK number 10 times so far to try and ask if my kids must have a credit card to book with Malagacar. They are 26 and 24. Every time, except once, the phone just cuts off after a recorded message. The one time I managed to get through, the guy said phone back please and I got cut off anyway. Please, Malagacar, can yo answer your phone.

Have just used malagacar again and as always the service and car are 5 Star quality but does not mean a 5 Star price!!

We received an excellent service from malagacar.com and would recommend them highly. Very friendly and professional.

Beware of HIDDEN costs when booking with Malagacar:
When booking, a very inexpensive car rental is suggested, as the FINAL amount to be paid is NOT displayed here (the amount to be paid later when picking up the car on site is significantly HIGHER!).

I would particularly like to highlight the additional insurance (without 800/1000 euro deductible), which in principle no one has to take out, but which makes sense in Spain.
Such full insurance (VK without deductible) is usually automatically or optionally offered by German car rental companies when booking and thus also appears in the FINAL amount to be paid (e.g. ADAC).

The cost of this full insurance was this year 2015 = 3 times higher than at my booking from the previous year 2014!
- 2015: 12 € per day
- 2014: 4 € per day

The cost of such insurance is indeed stated on the homepage and also on the multi-page booking confirmation, but it is not clearly highlighted.
It is a significant additional cost factor and should also be displayed when booking!

Example:
a) When booking, ONLY the reasonably inexpensive rental costs are shown to me.
b) The following ADDITIONAL costs were missing, which were added when I picked up the rental car on site:
+ 38,-("Standard Check-out Service" = Gasoline Standard Service)
+ 196,- (Insurance = Full comprehensive Full-insurance = without deductible)

I don't want to get too upset about the "Standard Check-out Service", but I also find the regulation with the "HALF" tank filling to be a hidden additional income for Malagacar: hardly anyone manages to fill half a tank at the gas station: it's usually a 3/4-tank. The excess gasoline is pumped out by Malagacar...
German car rental companies have the full-tank regulation: much simpler and fairer.

In principle, I am very satisfied with the airport transfer service and the friendly staff, but this year I was very angry about the increase in insurance premiums by about 140 euros.

Conclusion: To counteract the impression of dishonest business conduct, Malagacar should build the booking process OPEN and CLEAR (with a workflow for all selectable options), so that already at the booking request the actual amount to be paid is displayed (currently this is only calculated when picking up).
This would enable a real simple price comparison with other providers (or should one accuse Malagacar of making this more difficult?).

Please excuse the incident. When completing your car rental booking, our page continuously informs you about the amount to be paid. However, we are now changing our computer system so that the total amount can be seen before reserving the car.
