Departures is located on the first floor of the airport. Although there are check-in counters in both the T2 and the T3, access to the boarding area is through the security filter located in T3.

So, passengers with a flight to non-EU or Schengen destinations will check in at T2, go to T3 to pass the security filter and return to their boarding gates at T2.
Malaga airport is made up of 3 terminals which are connected to each other to form a single large terminal.
The original airport building, the old T1, is no longer in use. There is a separate General Aviation terminal for private and sports flights.
At present, only check-ins and arrivals for non-Schengen and non-EU flights are operated in Terminal 2 of Malaga Airport.
The new Terminal T3 at Malaga airport was inaugurated in March 2010. This new building, which combines transparent designs with the latest technological advances, also contains a large area dedicated to shops, bars and restaurants to entertain passengers while they wait for their flight. Most counters, airlines and the mandatory safety filter are located in T3.
