Have send a question re hiring a car for longer period but no answer. Do I have to book 3 different cars to cover my stay in 9 weeks, have foud it is much cheaper than hire for a longer period, why? BR Jan

Thanks for contacting us. The prices are calculated by the system and these can be different depends on availability, season and rental period. Please let me know the period when a car is needed and the kind of car you like and I will give you a quote.

Very dissatisfied. We received a totally mangled car. The woman who handed it over just gave us the keys and left without further explanation. Upon return we were asked to pay for damages that were already present before pickup! Never again Malagacar!!!

We came several times to your office and never had problems and no waiting. May 2018, we came back and there was a very long wait. When it was our term, we did'nt found our booking number, despite it was in my phone...we know the reservation was made! We found our future reservations for July and August. We expected some understanding from the counter attendant. He said that we have no reservation, he made no effort to search. If he had looked with the name...he would have found it! But he was arrogant and he had no time to spill with us. He asked someone else.We waited another long moment and finally the responsable said he tried to get a car for us. We were taken care of by a lady...she helped us a lot. She made a new reservation...but at the end she found that we actually had a reservation! What a loss of time! If the first person had bothered to help us we would not have contacted you.I am extremely disappointed with your service! And what is that new VIP policy that passes in front of everyone? We waited one hour...before arriving at a counter! After a long trip this is unacceptable!

Thanks a lot for your comment. Not always the customers comes with booking numbers known but We can find the bookings looking by nave. The search is done in less than 15 seconds, with just typing part of your name or surnames and this is what Amina did. About the another employee, I will talk with him but I am sure that it was not the intention of our employee to be arrogant. He is an employee who is working in the company for a long time (more than 2 years) and we know him well. He has been in another department (check in) and has just been moved up to the customer service desk (5 days prior your arrival day).

Well located near the airport. As it is not a broker, we received excellent personalized service both on arrival and when returning the car. The first car we had had a small glitch and we were rented another car without any difficulty and apologizing for any inconvenience it may have caused us. I recommend this company without hesitation.

Having used you several times before, I have always found the Service to be 5 star, however, this last time (April 25~10May) I have just one observation which has made me only give 4 stars this time. I paid by a MasterCard credit card and was surprised to find p, on my return home, that you had converted the rate to GBP and used a different exchange rate than had you debited me in Euros is MasterCard. My Credit card company told me that all they received was a sterling amount for me to pay with no reference to Euros. You did not ask me whether I wanted to pay in pounds or Euros and the rate you used was not advantageous to me, only to you. I emailed you to ask why, but have not received a reply.

WARNING!!! Just want warn everyone about Malaga Car. As with most car rental companies, they reserve an amount in your credit/ debit card that covers the excess. The problem is that they DO NOT then cancel this 'reservation' so you end up with a large sum on your card that cannot be used. After OVER THREE WEEKS and despite many , many calls to them (once where they just hung up!) my boyfriend still has over 8000 SEK (over £650) reserved on his card! This has now been taken up with the bank.

I used Malagacar for the first time in April after reading good reports about it and noting that the car "will be in superb working order and spotlessly clean". I added the full pack rate as we'd never used the company before. We collected the car on 15 April and noticed after leaving the airport the petrol gauge was under half. On 17 April I noticed the 'service required within 25 working days' sign and on 10 April the oil warning light came on. The exterior and interior of the car was, indeed, 'spotlessly clean' when we collected it but on lifting the bonnet to check the oil, I found the engine compartment filthy and obviously it hadn't been opened for some considerable time and had not been checked before I collected it. The water coolant bottle was just on the minimum level, the oil just touched the bottom of the dip stick - about a centimetre under the minimum indicator. My wife rang Malagacar who asked us to add some oil and they would refund us. I added the oil on three separate occasions to make sure I didn't add too much. We called in at Malagacar on 29 April and left the receipt and credit card receipt for €10.50 with reception and the pleasant lady there said it would be credited to my credit card. We returned the car which thenrequired a service within 5 days on 6 May. I am still waiting the the €10.50 to be credited to my credit card. The cost of the oil is not high but we probably spent half a day in total of our holiday doing Malagacar's job. Would I use Malagacar again? Maybe but I would insist on seeing under the bonnet before accepting the car.

Thanks for your email. We are sorry you were not happy with the car and I will check who checked and cleaned the car. You are right the car had to be rented in perfect conditions. Is not usual this happen but this time we made a mistake. About the fuel, I will ask the account department because I can see a note left by my colleague Montse and that amount will be refunded.

3 stars for Malagacar.com. Pick-up service was not good, but the rest was OK. 5 stars for Startpackage - a perfect service for late arrival in Malaga. We started the first day in Spain with bacon and eggs :-). All food was fresh and cold in the bag. We were greeted by one of the owners (Kim), who had our start package at the car rental office. Will definitely use the startpackage again.

I am very unhappy with the level of service for my car hire 26/2-04/03. My credit card was charged for the excess amount at the time of collecting the car, and after returning the car it took six emails over the space of a month to get the amount refunded (there was no damage to the car whatsoever). It took the bookkeeping staff until the third volley of emails to even realise what they were doing wrong, and as a result of the delay it cost us nearly 50 euros extra on our credit card. The last email I had on the topic said that the manager would look at the problem, and Alberto was CC'd, but that was on 02/04 and still no response. Extremely disappointing as the car hire itself was not bad, but the back office administration needs to provide proper support to customers.
