Have just used malagacar again and as always the service and car are 5 Star quality but does not mean a 5 Star price!!

Beware of HIDDEN costs when booking with Malagacar:
When booking, a very inexpensive car rental is suggested, as the FINAL amount to be paid is NOT displayed here (the amount to be paid later when picking up the car on site is significantly HIGHER!).
I would particularly like to highlight the additional insurance (without 800/1000 euro deductible), which in principle no one has to take out, but which makes sense in Spain.
Such full insurance (VK without deductible) is usually automatically or optionally offered by German car rental companies when booking and thus also appears in the FINAL amount to be paid (e.g. ADAC).
The cost of this full insurance was this year 2015 = 3 times higher than at my booking from the previous year 2014!
- 2015: 12 € per day
- 2014: 4 € per day
The cost of such insurance is indeed stated on the homepage and also on the multi-page booking confirmation, but it is not clearly highlighted.
It is a significant additional cost factor and should also be displayed when booking!
Example:
a) When booking, ONLY the reasonably inexpensive rental costs are shown to me.
b) The following ADDITIONAL costs were missing, which were added when I picked up the rental car on site:
+ 38,-("Standard Check-out Service" = Gasoline Standard Service)
+ 196,- (Insurance = Full comprehensive Full-insurance = without deductible)
I don't want to get too upset about the "Standard Check-out Service", but I also find the regulation with the "HALF" tank filling to be a hidden additional income for Malagacar: hardly anyone manages to fill half a tank at the gas station: it's usually a 3/4-tank. The excess gasoline is pumped out by Malagacar...
German car rental companies have the full-tank regulation: much simpler and fairer.
In principle, I am very satisfied with the airport transfer service and the friendly staff, but this year I was very angry about the increase in insurance premiums by about 140 euros.
Conclusion: To counteract the impression of dishonest business conduct, Malagacar should build the booking process OPEN and CLEAR (with a workflow for all selectable options), so that already at the booking request the actual amount to be paid is displayed (currently this is only calculated when picking up).
This would enable a real simple price comparison with other providers (or should one accuse Malagacar of making this more difficult?).

Please excuse the incident. When completing your car rental booking, our page continuously informs you about the amount to be paid. However, we are now changing our computer system so that the total amount can be seen before reserving the car.

As always, we are very happy with Malagacar. This is undoubtedly the best car rental company. Friendly staff, clean almost new cars and both the collection and return are very good. We rented a car for 4 weeks. Rented with Malagacar and continue to do so if they keep up the good work.

This morning somebody bumped into my car meanwhile I was waiting at a traffic light in Seville. The driver in the other car was distracted. So I called Malagacar and everything went very well; the first thing they asked me if I was well and if the car was fit for driving. When I told them I was not sure about that they sent me a tow truck and a taxi to bring me from Seville to Malaga in order to give me another car. Everything was very good and very swift. I recommend Malagacar to everybody.

Great service! The new VIP Desk is perfect. We've been using you now more or less every month for a year or so. Excellent consistent service. Our friends could not believe how quickly the collection of the car was on the 21st June. And a great price!! We returned the car on the 7th July and again a slick operation. I could not recommend higher !!

We have used Malaga Cars 32 times in the past 4 years. They are always good value, with excellent and friendly service. Reservation on-line is very easy, and even changes to bookings can be done on-line. No payment is taken until the car is collected. Deserves our 5-star rating!

Jeg har kun oplevet rigtig god service hos Malagacar.
Min hustru havde brækket et ben, og vi blev straks kørt til lufthavnen i samme bil som vi skulle aflevere. Ikke noget med at skifte til shutlle bus. Chaufføren sørgede for, at vi fik en kørestol i lufthavnen.
TAK fra en særdeles tilfreds kunde.
I have only experienced good service at Malagacar.
My wife had broken a leg and we were immediately taken to the airport in the same car as we had to deliver. None of that change to shuttle bus. The driver made sure we got a wheelchair at the airport.
