Jaen has a great wealth of monuments that stand out for their architectural and tourist interest. We are going to discover some of its most representative works in case you feel like getting to know them closely.
Among its constructions we find great castles and palaces, fountains, ancient walls and many others besides the religious buildings. We must remember that in ancient times the city of Jaén was surrounded by a great wall, of which today only a few remains have been preserved.
We find two imposing castles, one of them formed by 3 fortifications and located on the top of a hill known as Castillo de Santa Catalina. The origin of the castle possibly dates back to the Carthaginian period, which may have built the first towers. The Otiñar Castle is also close to the capital we find this castle in a natural environment overlooking the city from the heights. Archaeological remains have been found here that date the first inhabitants to the Bronze Age, with cave paintings, a dolmen and a wall. Among the palaces in Jaen, the Palacio de Villadompardo, dating from the late 16th century, stands out. Inside you will find the Municipal Museum of Popular Arts and Customs and the Art Museum.
The Jaén Town Hall is a perfect example of contemporary architecture in the region.
The Palacio de los Vilches is a Renaissance building which has been declared a monument and is located next to the Plaza de la Constitución.
The Palacio del Vizconde de los Villares is another of Jaén's Renaissance buildings. It currently serves a public function.

In Jaen you will find numerous historical fountains that have helped the city of Jaén to grow since the Muslim period. Some of the fountains have dried up, while those that remain active serve perfectly drinkable water.
The Arab baths in Jaén are a fascinating historical site. These ancient baths, dating back to the Moorish period, provide a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of the region.
Located beneath the floor of the Villadompardo Palace, one of the largest palaces in Europe, the remains of these baths reveal intricate architecture, clever water management systems, and beautiful decorative elements.
Visitors can explore the various chambers, including the frigidarium (cold room), tepidarium (warm room), and caldarium (hot room). The use of different temperatures in these rooms was an essential part of the bathing ritual.
