Traditional pottery
Until the 1970s pottery was still practised in some coastal towns such as Torremolinos and Fuengirola. Today the remaining traditional workshops are almost all inland.
Coin has one of the longest continuous pottery traditions in the province. The town produced everyday vessels, flowerpots and animal containers for generations, and a pottery school was established to keep the techniques alive. Other active centres include Alozaina, Ronda, Gaucin and Competa.
Useful places to see or buy ceramics include Alfajar in Malaga city, pottery workshops in Alozaina, Ronda, Gaucin and Competa.
