The Mediterranean Club is situated in the port of the Royal Mediterranean Club and opened on the 20th of September 1873 and was created by a wealthy group of people from Malaga, and amongst them was Tomas Heredia Grund, who was the owner of the Heredia foundation.

Since its creation, the club has fomented the practice of nautical activities such as rowing and sailing, and later on they added sport fishing and swimming. Currently many other sports can be practiced that are not related to the sea, such as athletics, paddle, fronton and fitness lessons with two classrooms of activities such as aerobics, pilates, gap, tai-chi, yoga and ballroom dancing.
