Puerto Marina in Benalmadena is far more than just a marina. With its striking architecture of artificial islands, its moorings filled with luxury yachts and its international reputation as one of the world’s finest marinas, it ranks among the liveliest and most attractive spots on the entire Costa del Sol.

Construction of Puerto Marina began on 12 November 1972 and was completed about ten years later, at the height of the tourism boom on the Costa del Sol. Thanks to its innovative design and high quality, the marina was named “Best Marina in the World” in 1995 and 1997 by leading international nautical magazines.
The panoramic Ferris wheel Mirador Princess is one of the most eye-catching attractions in the marina. Located on the car park area, it rises 40 metres high and offers spectacular views over the marina, the beaches, the coastline and the mountains beyond. Its spacious family cabins are perfect for photos and especially beautiful at sunset.
Numerous boat excursions depart from the quays for every budget. You can choose a gentle coastal cruise, a more active trip with water sports such as waterskiing or paragliding, or a classic dolphin-watching tour. Private charters with catering on board are also available for special occasions. Prices for standard excursions start from around £17 / €20 per person.
Between late April and early May the popular Seafood Festival (Feria del Marisco) takes place. For several days the marina fills with traditional stalls (casetas) offering fresh seafood and fish at very reasonable prices. Live music and family activities complete the festive atmosphere – one of the most enjoyable culinary events on the Costa del Sol.
Puerto Marina is flanked by two very good town beaches that combine perfectly with a walk along the quay.
Located right on the border with Torremolinos, this beach has fine golden sand and crystal-clear water – ideal for snorkelling. It is fully equipped with sun loungers, parasols, showers and toilets and lies close to several beach bars. You can also try kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding here.

At around 700 metres long, this is one of the most popular beaches in Benalmadena. Its calm waters and excellent facilities make it especially suitable for families. It is also a favourite spot for young people playing beach football or volleyball.

Puerto Marina has 1,002 berths and offers all the essential services for boats: petrol and diesel, fresh water, electricity, showers, 24-hour security, a slipway and travel lift. Maximum draught is 2.3 metres. Caution is advised in strong westerly winds and near the entrance due to reefs (Laja de Bermeja).

Reaching Puerto Marina is straightforward from anywhere on the Costa del Sol. Whether you are travelling by hire car from your accommodation or using public transport, connections are excellent and the route is well signposted.
From Marbella or the western Costa del Sol, take the AP-7 and exit at junction 222 towards Benalmadena. From Malaga city centre it is only about 20 minutes via the MA-20 and A-7. From Nerja or the eastern coast, follow the A-7 towards Malaga and take the same exit 222. Access is direct and clearly signed.

By bus you can reach the marina easily on lines M-110 and M-123, which stop nearby. By train, take the Cercanías local rail service (line C1) to Benalmadena-Arroyo de la Miel station, from where it is a pleasant 15–20 minute walk to the marina.

Yes, Puerto Marina is very family-friendly. You can enjoy the safe beaches of Malapesquera or Fuente de la Salud, take a ride on the Ferris wheel, visit the Sea Life Aquarium (right in the marina) or join a dolphin-watching boat trip. The Seafood Festival is also very popular with children.
Although free parking can be limited in high season, there are three large paid car parks (two open-air and one underground) right inside the marina. There is also a regulated parking zone (Zona Azul) at the entrance. Arriving early usually makes finding a space much easier.
The two main beaches are Malapesquera (Torrebermeja), ideal for families thanks to its calm waters and full facilities, and Fuente de la Salud, perfect for relaxing, snorkelling and enjoying the nearby beach bars.
It is very accessible by bus on lines M-110 and M-123, which stop nearby. By train, take the local Cercanías service (line C1) to Benalmadena-Arroyo de la Miel station, from where it is a pleasant 15–20 minute walk to the marina.
You can visit Puerto Marina all year round. Spring and autumn offer pleasant temperatures with fewer crowds. Summer is ideal if you want to combine the beach and the marina. The Seafood Festival in late April and early May is a special highlight for food lovers.
