Opened in 1995, the aquarium features 25 tanks spread across nine themed zones. The entire building is fully accessible for wheelchair users, with ramps and lifts throughout, making it easy and enjoyable for all visitors.

Exhibitions and Highlights

Sea Life Benalmadena offers an immersive journey into the underwater world, from colourful coral reefs to the mysterious depths of the ocean. The highlight for many is the impressive ocean tunnel, where you can walk surrounded by sharks, rays and other magnificent sea creatures. The jellyfish exhibit is equally captivating, with these graceful creatures gently glowing as they drift through the water.

Among the star attractions are the rare Asian short-clawed otters (an endangered species), Mediterranean moray eels and seahorses from the Indo-Pacific. Each tank includes clear information panels, and the friendly staff are always happy to share interesting facts about the animals and their conservation.

One of the most exciting moments of the day are the live feeding sessions. Watch the keepers feed sharks and rays while they explain their behaviour and feeding habits. Educational talks on marine biology and ocean conservation are also offered throughout the day.

Special Events

Sea Life Benalmadena organises a variety of fun and educational events throughout the year, including interactive workshops and seasonal themed activities suitable for visitors of all ages.

Halloween at Sea Life

In October the aquarium is transformed with spooky decorations. There are costume competitions, pumpkin workshops and storytelling sessions. Children in fancy dress usually receive free entry. It is a great way to learn about the ocean’s most mysterious creatures in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere.

Sea Life Benalmadena is fully accessible for visitors with disabilities, with ramps, lifts and wheelchairs available for loan.
