Summer Evening Rides
During July and August the cable car operates until 23:00. The evening rides offer a magical opportunity to enjoy the starry sky over the Costa del Sol – a memorable experience for the whole family.
The Benalmadena Cable Car departs from Arroyo de la Miel and takes you up to the summit of Monte Calamorro, at 769 metres in the Sierra de Mijas.
On clear days the view from the top reaches all the way to the coast of Africa. Since opening in 2000, the cable car has become one of the most popular attractions on the Costa del Sol.
The journey itself takes just over 15 minutes and delivers you to a mountain station with breathtaking panoramas, walking trails and daily birds of prey displays – a perfect day out for all ages.
Each cabin carries up to 4 passengers. You can buy a return ticket or a one-way ticket if you prefer to walk back down one of the hiking trails. It is an excellent experience for families and anyone who enjoys combining nature with spectacular views.

Daily flight demonstrations with eagles, vultures and other birds of prey take place at the summit. Expert keepers provide fascinating information about the birds’ biology, habitat and conservation.
Several well-marked trails start from the upper station, allowing you to explore the Mediterranean mountain landscape.
Two options: the shorter and easier Calamorro route, and the longer, more challenging Ermita variant. Both offer superb views over the Guadalhorce Valley and, on clear days, across to the African coast.
A 5.15 km circular route through classic Mediterranean scrubland with holm oaks, juniper and thyme. Suitable for walkers and mountain bikers alike.
One of the most popular circuits, with dramatic views of Malaga, the Costa del Sol and the Sierra Nevada. Best walked in the morning before the heat builds up.
The cable car is located in Arroyo de la Miel, right next to the former Tivoli site. It is easily accessible from anywhere along the Costa del Sol.
If you have a hire car, reaching the cable car is straightforward. Take the A-7 motorway and exit at junction 1003 (Benalmadena – Arroyo de la Miel). You will arrive at the Explanada del Tivoli in just a few minutes. This is especially convenient if you plan to visit several attractions in one day.
