4-star hotels in Malaga
As mentioned above, there are more than a dozen 4-star hotels in Malaga. But in this article, we are only going to mention the most charming ones which are located in the heart of the city.
Sallés Hotel Malaga Centre****
The four-star Hotel Sallés Málaga is in the heart of Malaga’s old town; it is just a few minutes’ walk from the port and Pier One.
The hotel has a gym and an outdoor swimming pool on its rooftop terrace. There you can enjoy a cocktail with the Gibralfaro Castle, the Alcazaba, the cathedral and the port as a backdrop.

- Snack menu available from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
The roof terrace also offers live music and a VIP corner. The hotel also has a gym.
AC Malaga Palacio****
AC Malaga Palacio is one of the great classics of Malaga and one of the first to install one of the most coveted roof top terraces.
Located between the Cathedral and the Paseo del Parque, and very close to the Picasso Museum, the Alcazaba, the Gibralfaro Castle and the popular urban beach La Malagueta. From the terrace there are spectacular views of Pier One.
A visit to the ATICO Bar and Restaurant, with its harbor views, is practically a must, even if you’re not staying at this hotel. The hotel terrace also features an adults-only outdoor pool. Open Monday to Sunday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
The hotel also offers a breakfast room, a restaurant and a fitness centre.
Petit Palace Plaza Malaga****
Hotel located in the heart of the city next to the famous Calle Larios and overlooking the Cathedral and the old town of Malaga.
It is a beautifully refurbished 20th century palace just a few minutes’ walk from the Picasso Museum and the Carmen Thyssen Museum.

Room Mate Valeria****
Room Mate Valeria is a boutique hotel located next to Palmeral de las Sorpresas and Pier One in the port of Malaga.

Parador de Málaga Gibralfaro****
Situated in a unique location on the Gibralfaro mountain. From this Parador Hotel you can enjoy spectacular views over the bay of Malaga and the city at your feet.
Because it is a little further away from the centre and its hustle and bustle, it is a special setting in which to relax without being far from the city.
The hotel features an outdoor pool and serves traditional Andalusian cuisine. Free outdoor parking is available.
Hotel Molina Lario****
Hotel Molina Lario is a charming hotel in the heart of the old town of Malaga, located just opposite the Cathedral.
The hotel has both a restaurant with Mediterranean cuisine in its courtyard and a rooftop terrace with an outdoor swimming pool.
From there you can enjoy even better views with your cocktail in hand. During the summer there are DJ sessions and live music. The roof terrace is open daily from 1:30 pm to 1 am.

Soho Boutique Equitativa****
This 4-star hotel is the latest addition in Malaga, located in the renovated La Equitativa building, just opposite Calle Larios.
One of the features of the hotel are several common areas for people not staying in the hotel, which makes it very attractive for non-stay guests as well: Non-stop kitchen in the Lobby, restaurant on the seventh floor with spectacular views and last but not least roof terrace with outdoor swimming pool.

H10 Croma Málaga****
The H10 Croma Malaga is a newly built hotel that opened its doors in August 2022.
However, we include it in our list for its spectacular interior design, which is simply magnificent.
Located in the old part of the city.
It is very close to the main points of interest such as the Picasso Museum and the Carmen Thyssen Museum, the port of Malaga or the Roman Theatre and the commercial area of the city, Calle Larios, with a wide range of restaurants and bars.
The hotel has two restaurants, bars and a roof terrace with swimming pool and fabulous views over the city.
There is free underground parking for guests and charging points for electric vehicles.
5-star hotels in Malaga
While the Costa del Sol has boasted five-star hotels in Marbella and Estepona for many decades, this was not the case in Malaga.
In fact, there were none until 2010. The Vincci Selección Posada del Patio Hotel officially holds the title of being the first five-star hotel in Malaga.
It was followed by the Gran Hotel Miramar, the first five-star Grand Luxury hotel. After a meticulous renovation of the former Hotel Príncipe de Asturias, dating back to 1926, it reopened in 2017.
Since then, the number of five-star hotels in Malaga has continued to grow. The city currently has six five-star hotels, two of which were recently opened, in the fall of 2025 and the spring of 2026, respectively.
Gran Hotel Miramar 5* GL*****
This unique Grand Luxury Hotel in Malaga is simply spectacular.
Housed in a magnificent 20th century building, the hotel is located next to La Malagueta promenade and a 10-minute walk from the city centre and the Alcazaba.
It has a spa, swimming pool, children’s pool, children’s club (seasonal).
The Gran Hotel Miramar received in 2021 the “Best Luxury Hotel Suite” award from Spain Luxury Hotel Awards.
The Miramar also has a menu of offers for external clients such as Afternoon Tea, Spa Circuit or Spa with Lunch, among others.
Soho Boutique Castillo de Santa Catalina*****
The Santa Catalina is located in the best residential area of Malaga, El Limonar, 10 minute´s walk from La Caleta beach. The city centre is about 2 km away.
It is a beautiful Neomudéjar style building from 1932 surrounded by gardens and with beautiful views over the city and the bay of Malaga.
The hotel features private parking for guests and an electric vehicle charging station.

Although newly built, it preserves in its base the most extensive section of the Arab wall of the city, which can be visited.

It also has a rooftop swimming pool. In addition, it has a gym, children’s facilities and a Spa. If you prefer to take a dip in the sea, the beach is a 15-minute walk away.
Only You*****
Only You is a new five-star hotel in Malaga that opened in October 2021.
Situated in an unbeatable location next to the main arteries of the city, facing Calle Larios. It offers spectacular views over the city, the Cathedral, the Alcazaba, Gibralfaro and the port.
The hotel features several dining options open to the public. There’s a fabulous rooftop terrace, Lolita Skyview, Pool & Lounge, with panoramic city views, an infinity pool, a sunbathing area, and a bar—perfect for enjoying the afternoon and sunset.
On weekends, the hotel offers its Weekend Brunch, also open to non-guests. It’s available every Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

ME Malaga*****
The ME Malaga by Meliá is one of Malaga’s newest 5-star hotels. Opened in late 2025, it’s located in the heart of the historic centre, next to the charming and popular Plaza de la Merced.
With its modern design, the hotel blends understated luxury with contemporary art.
Despite being open for only a few months, ME Malaga has won the award for ‘Best Urban Hotel in Spain 2026’ from National Geographic Traveler.
With seven floors, the hotel guarantees stunning views. From its rooftop terrace, you can enjoy viewsof the Alcazaba, the Roman Theatre, the Cathedral and Plaza de la Merced.
The terrace also features a restaurant and an infinity pool.
There’s a lobby bar where you can enjoy creative bites, signature cocktails and wines.
The hotel has a gym and parking. Rooms are available for guests with reduced mobility. Dogs are welcome.
As a special service, the Thyssen Museum opens exclusively for ME guests after its official closing time.
You can view the collection in a more tranquil and uncrowded setting, guided by an art specialist. The experience concludes on the rooftop terrace, where drinks and snacks are served with views of Málaga’s old town at night.
Áurea Palacio de la Tinta*****
The Áurea Palacio de la Tinta hotel recently opened its doors in the spring of 2026.
It is located in a carefully renovated historic Modernist building dating from 1908, on Paseo de Reding, in the La Malagueta district, just a few metres from the Gran Hotel Miramar.
In its wellness area, you can enjoy a complete relaxation experience in a distinguished setting.
It features a heated indoor pool, a modern gym, sauna, Turkish bath and an exclusive menu of treatments and massages.
The restaurant offers exquisite local, Mediterranean, and Galician cuisine, grilled over holm oak charcoal. Vegetarian options are also available.
The elevator connects directly to the restaurant located on the terrace.
This space, which features a seasonal outdoor pool, is also open to the general public. There, you can enjoy a selection of food and drinks in a stunning setting.
The hotel also features a restaurant and a garden. Private parking is available on site.
