About two and a half hours flying time from most European cities, Malaga, the capital of the Costa del Sol, casts a very special charm in the Advent season, featuring its spectacular Christmas lighting.Millions of colourful lights, blossoming Poinsettia and illuminated traditional cribs give the romantic Old Town a festive splendour and invite for a stroll.
Malaga is a paradise for shoppers: Clothes, shoes, bags, accessories, crafts, antiques and art – here city travellers will find everything that their hearts desire. Especially romantic is the historic old town with its pedestrian streets, the winding streets and over 1,000 shops in the immediate vicinity of impressive monuments, museums, restaurants and cafes. Centre of the shopping scene in the heart of the city, is calle Larios, a popular shopping street and pedestrian zone.
Christmas lights in Malaga this year
The Christmas lights in Malaga are lit throughout the month of December to the 6th of January. During this time the streets are very lively with pedestrians taking a walk and enjoying the lighted atmosphere.
And after the stroll, we recommend some of the specialties of Malaga as roasted chestnuts, a hot cup of chocolate with Churros at a coffee shop or some of the typical Christmas sweets like Roscos de Anis.
As December is a month which is not really cold on the Costa del Sol, you can spend plenty of quality time on the streets savouring and enjoying the Christmas lighting in Malaga, one of the most beautiful across Europe!
Do not visit the city only for the Christmas lighting, there are many Christmas Markets in the province where shopping, eating or just strolling around, ideal places where buying some gifts and/or souvenirs if visiting Malaga during Christmas.
