This municipality located in the Alpujarra was one of many who participated in the famous rebellion against the Christian conquest. From the village we have access to several hiking trails to show us the beauty of the surroundings.
One route starts from Lanjaron with direction to Pampaneira and Niguelas while the other goes to Puerto de la Ragua.
We will analyse the route from Pampaneira in direction to Trevelez; an ideal destination from where we can plan our ascent of Mulhacen.
Among the local trails we highlight La Atalaya for being a good option for a tour of great beauty and which will show us among other things remains of abandoned farmhouses. After crossing the bridge situated near the recreational area we start the ascent on a trail until we can deviate leftwards to reach a forest road and where we can enjoy great views of the entire region. The destination of this route is 'Cortijo Bañuelo' from where we descend to the bridge at the beginning of the route.
