This scenic hike takes you from Vadillo Castril to several notable landmarks, offering a blend of natural beauty and historical significance. The trail is well-marked and provides an enjoyable experience for hikers of all levels.
Leaving Vadillo Castril towards La Nava de San Pedro, about 1 km farther, there is a track to the right which leads to the source of the river Guadalquivir. This initial part of the journey is easy and sets a relaxed pace for the hike.
The historic Las Herrerías bridge, set in an area of poplars along the riverbanks, is surrounded by a recreational area and a camping site. This picturesque location is perfect for a rest stop, where you can enjoy the natural scenery and perhaps spot some local wildlife.
Before crossing the bridge, to the right and northwards, you will find the short but varied El Oso track. This trail, near the road leading to the Parador Nacional, offers a mix of terrains and is surrounded by an old and beautiful pine grove. The pine trees here are significant for their age and beauty, providing a serene and shaded path for hikers.
