The path to follow to get to Cortelazor begins in the small village of Corterrangel of only 10 inhabitants whose origins lie in the Middle Ages. In this small town you can take a stroll around the area and enjoy the riverside where the freshness of the vegetation and the sound of the creek relax all your senses.
Near this town is situated the village Castañuelo which can be reached easily by road.
Another route from Corterrangel goes to Cortelazor and has a very short duration; in just one hour you will reach Cortelazor where you can take a break and enjoy local dishes and a refreshing drink at one of the bars.
From Cortelazor we can get to Los Marines, a somewhat longer route than the first one but with a lovely hiking trail which we can follow if we decide to go from Los Marines to Aracena from where we can return to Corterrangel, a circular route of approximately 20 kilometres.
Other possible routes from Corterrangel are:
- Corterrangel to Rivera de Castañuelo and Rivera del Huerba
This trail leads to the Huerba River, a tributary of the Guadalquivir. This trail is ideal for cooling down during the summer in one of the small pools that you will encounter along the way.
- Corterrangel to Castañuelo
Nice and short route that runs parallel to a stream.
- They are usually easy trails with low difficulty; some parts may not be well marked.
- In Castañuelo there are bars where you can take a break and refresh or try a typical dish.
The following map shows the circular route known as Los tres Arroyos (The three streams) which goes from Cortelazor to Castañuelo passing by Corterrangel:
