Malaga Fair
It is one of the most popular fairs in Andalusia and one of the most popular events in the city. The Malaga Fair takes place this year from 12 to 19 August 2023.

The Malaga Fair is one of the liveliest and most popular fairs and attracts every year a large number of local and foreign visitors who enjoy lots of music, dancing and cold Cartojal to combat the high temperatures.

The fair takes place during the day in the streets of the historic centre and then moves at night to the fairgrounds where people continue to party until dawn.

International Beer Day at La Fabrica, Malaga

On the occasion of International Beer Day, the Cruzcampo Brewery opens its doors offering several activities related to beer.
There will be free beer experiences, as well as workshops.

Summer Jazz Festival Torremolinos

Night Visit to the Automobile and Fashion Museum

Night visits are an excellent option to see interesting things in Malaga without sweltering in the high temperatures.
In this proposal we can discover the Automobile and Fashion Museum on a guided tour.
It has a collection of almost a hundred cars and more than 300 pieces of Haute Couture.
The guided tour is also accompanied by stories and legends that are hidden behind the classic vehicles that form part of the collection and characters such as Marilyn Monroe, Jules Verne and Franklin Roosevelt.

Muscatel Grape Day in Iznate

Iznate, one of the White Villages of La Axarquía, celebrates on the 5th of August its Muscatel Grape Day. The village is known for the production of muscatel grapes and sultanas.

During the months of August and September, the sultanas are harvested and dried.

This work in the fields traditionally begins with a festival of thanksgiving for the harvest to be gathered and a tribute to the Muscatel grape.

There is a wide-ranging programme that includes:
4th August: Foam music party, water games in the swimming pool, night swimming in the pool
5th August: Exhibitions, documentary, Flamenco evening
6th August: Craft market, Gastronomic route, musical performances

Mornings at the Malaga Museum concerts

The Museum of Malaga currently hosts the fifth cycle “Las Mañanas del Museo de Málaga”, with free concerts by the Philharmonic Orchestra of Malaga on Sundays at noon.

The series ends in August with the last concert on Sunday 6 August 2023 at 12 noon.

Kuwait-Spain Festival in Marbella

The Jardín de Europa in Puerto Banús will host the second edition of the Kuwait-Spain Festival from 30 July to 1 August.

The festival will feature a programme of activities to get to know the gastronomy, folklore, culture and art of Kuwait.

In addition, there will be live music, a Jaima (typical arab tent) in which Arab coffee and typical Kuwaiti sweets will be handed out free of charge to all those attending, as well as a “Trivial” about Kuwait and Spain with the distribution of gifts.

Live Music at Gran Hotel Miramar

El Torcal – Route of the Ammonites

These guided tours take place in the Torcal in Antequera at sunset during the summer months.

El Torcal is a fantastic natural labyrinth of stones sculpted by erosion.

It is situated at an altitude of over a thousand metres, one hour from Malaga.

One of the pleasures of summer is the cinema on the beach. These are usually family-friendly screenings that start at sunset (at 22:15 h) and are free of charge.

Three Cultures Festival Frigiliana

The famous white village Frigiliana hosts for 4 days the Festival of the Three Cultures. During these days, the village is transformed to be an example of peaceful coexistence beyond beliefs and religions.

This village in the Axarquia region is known as the “Village of the three cultures” because of the different civilisations that have passed through its streets: Arabic, Jewish and Christian.

There will be an extensive programme with musical performances, conferences and gastronomic days, which take place in its streets, as well as activities, parades, music, juggling, fakirs, belly dancing and children’s activities along with a traditional market complete the offer for those days.

This year the festival has 3 stages with Arab, Christian and Sephardic music. The line-up is completed with the show Cantes del Almijara, Sephardica, Escarramán Ensemble and Capilla de música Maestro Iribarren, Dj Beatz with Dani Vikario and the international DJ Zingabeat.

Nights at the English Cemetery Málaga

Night trip to the Alhambra in Granada

Nightvisit to the Zoo – Fuengirola

During the warm nights of August the Biopark in Fuengirola opens its doors until 11pm.

It is a unique opportunity to see some of the nocturnal species from Madagascar, Equatorial Africa, South East Asia or Indo Pacific.

In the evenings you can also enjoy a show of African dances, or have ‘Encounters with Keepers’ every day at 12:30 pm and 6:30 pm where visitors will discover the daily work of the keepers of the animals.

The weather in Malaga in August

August in Malaga is equivalent to summer in full swing: Endlessly blue skies, sun & beach.

August on the Costa del Sol also means a lot of heat. Daily temperatures can reach up to 35ºC and night-time temperatures do not go below 22ºC.

Very typical in Malaga in August is the high humidity which makes us sweat day and night.

Remember to drink plenty of water and it is preferable not to do sport or “fry in the sun” in the central hours of the day. Remember that the sun is very strong, so always apply generously a sunscreen with a high protection factor. Your skin will thank you for it.

It is also typical of Malaga summer to have the occasional day with Terral wind which raises the temperature to well over 35ºC in the blink of an eye.

What clothes should I bring for Malaga in August?
